This book has been recommended to me so much here on the blog. I finally read, Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within (Shambhala Library). I medium liked it.
It's very readable and inspiring. I like to read a few of these writerly how-to books every year to keep me feeling like a writer. I enjoyed it, but there's a lot of Zen-philosphy stuff in it that I don't find particularly useful unless I'm in the mood for it. I bought this and while it's not my favorite writing book, I think I'll pull it out from time to time for encouragement and tips.
I especially loved this quote: "We have lived. Our moments are important. This is what it is to be a writer: to be the carrier of details that make up history." Bloggers too, ya'll! Bloggers too.
