I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to be Your Class President by Josh Lieb is a novel about a very powerful and evil child. It's pretty funny and weird. And in the end, it's a tiny bit sweet. This poor kid seems like he can't catch a break but it's all by design because he's totally rich. He has an underground lair where his minions make sure Captain Beefheart is always blasting. How do people think of this stuff? They are clever, I guess. The main character reminds me a little of Artemis Fowl. But don't take my word for it. And now you know the executive producer for The Daily Show has time to write a book.
Wait. Am I the monkey? Who is the monkey in this blogging scenario?

What does it say about me that I have a note on my phone with a list of books to get, and the majority of that list comes from you, Jon Stewart and Colbert. I must be so gullible. A marketers dream.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I am going to read this book.
Also, I was listening to First Wave ( the best station on satellite radio IMHO) and they had guest DJ's who had written a book about the first 10 years of MTV. The anecdotes they shared were really interesting. Please read this book and tell me if I should read it. "I Want My MTV" is the name. Help me, Kacy!
I will read that book and tell you if you should read it. It will be my pleasure.
DeleteIs this book ok for a 13 year old? My son is in that read-all-the-kids-books-he-wants-to-like-three-time-already,-but-isn't-really-ready-to-be-loosed-on-the-world-of-adult-literature phase. I'm thinking sci-fi might be a good stopgap. But I don't read sci-fi, so this is a problem.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can do a post someday on your favorite adolescent literature?
I mean, after you finish the MTV book.
I think it would be OK for a 13 year old.
