Nope. In fact, it's a stretch to say that The Family Circus was ever awesome. But before you could read you might imagine that it was ironic or funny. It's not.

As a child I loved, LOVED! Family Circus. Unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I canceled our newspaper subscription just because now I don't have to read Family Circus to my kids. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteBut you know what *is* funny is the Nietzsche Family Circus blog: http://www.losanjealous.com/nfc/
ReplyDeleteThe blog pairs a randomized Family Circus cartoon with a randomized Friedrich Nietzsche quote.
Thank me later.
I actually liked family circus as a kid...especially those ones where they would show the path the kids take to get from point a to point b, and they take all these detours.
ReplyDeleteThe world is full of crummy cartoons - that occasionally have a brilliant thought - I don't have an example here - but it could happen. Isn't that why they are still getting published??
ReplyDeleteI always assumed the people who liked family circus were the same ones who watched Lawrence Welk reruns. Like, you can't get it or like it if you havent lived through the Depression. Quick, somebody, go ask your grandma
ReplyDeleteI like the ones where the dialog is replaced with soundbites from Charlie Sheen.

Agreed. Family Circus has always been lame. I also hated Marmaduke. Both wastes of valuable comic space!
ReplyDeleteDang! I was going to give you the Nietzsche Family Circus link, but Rachel beat me to it. It seriously is so great.
